Jessica Jo Stenquist

Jessica Jo’s work in intensive settings as a mental health therapist for 18 years helped her to see that often the interventions that work the best aren’t able to be accessed in non-intensive settings. Her heart is in anything that allows for therapeutic resources and tools to be utilized in an effective and preventative manner by the general public. Within her work, she focused on incorporating attachment, somatic, trauma, and experiential interventions.

Growing up on her grandparents' farms, Jessica Jo developed a deep connection to animals and nature from an early age. These formative experiences, caring for horses and working the land, instilled in her the values of hard work, respect for the natural world, and the understanding that a reciprocal relationship with animals and the environment is essential to well-being. This connection to nature has continued to guide her therapeutic approach, allowing her to blend her love of the outdoors and animals with her dedication to helping teens, young adults, and parents.

Amber Scholes

Amber Scholes is a director of Millcreek Meadows. Born in Memphis Tennessee, she has spent her entire life devoted to animals. Amber has rescued, rehabilitated, and fostered many over the years, and continues to do so today. Her focus at Millcreek Meadows is taking care of the animal residents, with a special focus on its horses. Her commitment is to make their lives as natural as possible to ensure their health and welfare, while at the same time helping mentally and physically disadvantaged people by exposing them to the natural energy, empathy and incredible power of her charges. Her many achievements include the introduction of a herd dynamic for the organization’s ten horses, allowing them to live as free a life as possible. She has also eliminated horseshoes, thereby returning the animals’ hoofs to their natural state. Part of Amber’s remit is to develop clinics to increase the understanding of horses and how to work with them and provide the right kinds of care. The clinics bring communities together and through participation, they constantly generate new ideas and practices. She has been tenaciously instrumental in ensuring Millcreek Meadows is as environmentally friendly as possible through practices such as auto waters to reduce water waste and the presence of mosquito larvae. Other environmental initiatives include lessening invasive plant species, employing solar lighting and cameras, and planting grass seed for grazing to eliminate the dependence on hay. Using her contagious passion for animals she continuously mobilizes the local community to the benefit of Millcreek’s animal residents and human visitors. She is committed to expanding her reach and bringing more people, partners and beneficiaries into the fold to enable Millcreek meadows to grow in its mission.

Amber graduated with honors from Fresno State University with a degree in business. Today she lives in Salt Lake City with her husband, Wayne. She has four children, eight horses, one donkey, four dogs, and a cat.

Wayne Scholes

Wayne Scholes is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of the Really Epic Dog (RED) Group. Headquartered in Salt Lake City, RED spans three continents and its companies are spread across a number of industries, from software and technology to luxury travel and entertainment. And yet the truth is, Wayne is at his happiest in the company of his horses Charlie, and Hondo, his donkey Freya, his four dogs, and his family. If you can keep a secret, he’s also definitely more comfortable mucking out stables or on a trail ride than he is in a corporate board room.

Wayne’s life-long love affair with animals began growing up in England, with the puppy that would ultimately inspire the name of his company. Alongside his love of travel and exploring new cultures, his passion for animals has been a constant throughout a career that has seen him work alongside the likes of Sir Richard Branson as Director of Strategic Marketing for America at Virgin, and with entertainment giants such as Sony Pictures and NBC Universal. Wayne led the set-up of a CNN affiliate in Africa where he founded the hugely successful technology business, Red Touch Media, and first established RED, which has operations in Africa, Europe and the US.

In recent years, Wayne’s passion for animal conservation and the great outdoors, has led him to invest heavily in eco-tourism, with not one but two luxury game lodges in the Nambiti Private Game Reserve in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. The reserve features Africa’s Big Five. Wayne lives five minutes from Millcreek Meadows and spends as much time there as he can.
