We have met so many great people walking in the park and saying hi! To our animals, especially our horses and donkeys! We  enjoy being able to teach curious park patrons about the animals; things like why we ask visitors not to feed the horses, donkeys, or foxes. We love to share why the horse’s diets are unique to each horse and how outside food can impact them negatively, and even risk the health of the horse. We like to be able to invite neighbors on to the property, let them have more close-up experiences with the animals we care for. It’s such a great experience to have schools come in and visit with us, the way children learn is so exciting, and watching the children be so excited to pet the donkeys and create their own names for each animal is wonderful.

All these experiences push us to improve Millcreek Meadows, so it can and will always be a place for learning, a place for comfort and a place to grow for our community. We truly feel blessed to have moments when veterans come and visit each horse, share their stories with the horses and at times, allow us to hear them too. To see a withdrawn child open up emotionally in equine therapy, for the first time, is a blessing we don’t take lightly. Animals have a way of touching our lives in amazing ways.

We are grateful to be part of this amazing community in Millcreek and appreciate the passion shared by almost everyone we encounter to protect this “slice of heaven” in the middle of a busy city. And as Millcreek Meadows continues to make itself more accessible to all, we know the desire of the community to get to be part of it will grow. We welcome the community and can’t wait to share this special place with as many people as possible. Keep your eyes open for community days, and scheduled visiting times to come and interact with all of our animals and staff. We can’t wait to meet you!
